My day thus far has been spectacular: I taught a yoga class, I went to my Dad’s house and took care of his cats (he’s in Europe), then I went grocery shopping. I got about five feet into the store when I had this thought pop up in my head, “Blueberry pie!” Normally, I love the thought of pie, any pie, but this thought was scary. I have never made one! It felt like a confession and a revelation all in one. Strange sensations to the lover of pie crust. I saw those berries and I immediately placed them in my basket. I’ve come face to face with blueberries before, and had similar things occur, but do to the fact that they don’t grow here, buying enough for a pie just isn’t a financial viability. Well, these berries were down right cheap in comparison. I am the proud possessor of two pounds of blueberries!
The ingredients for the crust are all measured out and resting comfortably in the freezer. Yes, the freezer. I am passionate about my pie crust. Passionate! I can rush a crust, and have done so, but pie crust is serious business and must be done right if it is to be done at all. So, guess what I’m making this afternoon? [insert silly laugh]
I’ll post about my adventure tomorrow, but until then, enjoy the beautiful sight of butter all measured out in charming little cubes.
I love butter.
I bet your blueberry pie will be delicious.
ReplyDeleteI bought fresh peaches today to make Peach Cream Pie, a recipe found in another blog. I hope to make it tomorrow morning.
Enjoy making the pie and savoring every bite.
